H for Hannah
Sometimes I like to sit on the roof. I like it when it warms up outside because I can't go out in the cold. That would suck. It's pretty peaceful and I get killer pictures. I have two different rooftops I can sit on. One is right outside my bedroom window but I can't always use that one because after a certain time the sun doesn't shine on it and it gets cold. Also because I can't see a lot from that roof except for our yard and the neighbor's house. My other roof is on the opposite side of the house and it's wayyyy better than the other one because it's bigger, it's got a bigger view and the sun shines on it any time after 12 PM. It's harder to get to though because the window is really squeaky and the only other way up there is to climb up the back of the van but it isn't always pointed the right way and sometimes it's in the garage. Okay so I'll shut up and upload the hackin' pictures already. Bye bye now. ♥
A for Abba- no comment !!
S for Sheila- When I was young and living at home, there was a shed that stood beside the barn. In the afternoons I would climb across a ledge on the barn's foundation and jump onto the roof of the shed. It was peaceful, relaxing and you could see for miles. Much like Hannah, I would take pictures of the sun setting and marvel at nature. I'm sure the shed is gone now, but maybe Hannah will let me climb out on the roof with her and we can share a moment.

Nacho Libre....
Welcome to the Stanley Girl Blog! We are Sheila, mother of 6 and certifiably insane, Abbey, daughter #1, and highschool freshman, Hannah, second born,and silently brilliant. These are the tales and experiences of life in the Stanley Family, from the female perspective. This is going to be exciting stuff!!
"Why do you always have to be judging me?" is a quote from the movie Nacho Libre. One of the Stanley family top 3 favorite movies of all time. If you have spent much time with us in the past 2 years you have undoubtingly heard us talking about it. Most certainly you have heard us quoting lines from it. And let's face it "dead guy duty" is so usable in so many situations!
A is for Abbey- Hmmm Nachooooooooo! Possibly one of the greatest films ever made. Lots of people hate this movie but I don't get why. Unsensible thats what they are! And in the words of Hannah, so is my mother twice a month. One of the funniest things about that movie is the corn infatuation. I had no idea that wannabe friars/luchadores and homeless sidekicks loved salted corn on the cob. They throw it (at mob bosses eyes), they fight over it, and well, duh, eat it. It is what the Scarlet letter is. A symbol. So now my favorite veggie is corn. As we say in Iowa(?) we are the children of the corn.
S for Sheila. I think I love this movie so much because I can relate to his thought patterns. Nacho is looking for a gimmick (the outfit, the eagle eggs, even the baptism) to make them the best, but in the end it comes down to skills applied in the arena of hard work. The reason it is so funny is because of the way he works so passionately at his "duties" in the dorkiest ways. The way he "captures" Esqueleto is brilliantly hillarious. Using the "Lord's chips" as bait. Wearing his "recreation clothes" to impress Sister Encarnacion and getting pummeled by "a couple of guys in the street". I'm hysterical just thinking about it. Sometimes I can relate with the outright and justified frustration of Steven and I cross my arms and scream "I HATE ALL THE ORPHANS IN THE WHOLE WORLD!" but then I get over it, summon my eagle powers, put on some stretchy pants and eat some toast in my quarters!
H is for Hannah. Okay so, yeah Nacho is like my favoritest movie ever. Their fake accents are definitely hilarious. And the lines are the BEST. It's just their dorkiness that makes the movie amazing. They just run around trying to be real luchadors and yelling at each other. It's so much like my real life. Anyways, that's about all I have to say. Peace gangsta's.
